How We Make Trades Safer and More Natural
The Stupid Standard Method
So traditionally, you buy gold on a site, you meet the seller in game, he trades you the gold, and you
are done...
Why this is bad: when you just meet a gold seller in game and trade gold in exchange for nothing, it
is a obvious redflag to any system looking to ban participants in gold selling activities. The
question comes to mind: "Why did two random players who aren't even friends in game and have no history
of chatting to one another or playing with one another suddenly trade a ton of gold for no reason?"
This practically screams, "Hey, I just bought gold from this Chinese gold seller, please ban my account!"
We don't like this method...
The Bait-N-Switch Method
Our solution: to make trading safer, we decided to create a better method of trade. Our method works
as follows: lets say you, the customer, buy 50,000g. We send a character to trade you 50,000g worth
of items. We instruct you to spam trade looking to sell these items. Then, after a short while, we
send another character to you who trades you 50,000g for those items. This way, when the gold changes
hands, items of equivalent value also change hands. So the exchange of gold appears legitimate.
Weakness of our solution: when we originally traded you that 50,000g worth of items, you essentially
were getting items of great value from a total stranger in exchange for nothing. This "could" be
a redflag, however, I've heard that when people do gold giveaways, they often get banned, however,
when people do item giveaways, they never get banned. So this leads me to believe that the flow
of gold between characters is watched carefully, whereas the transfer of items between characters
is basically ignored.
Solution for the remaining weakness (optional): when you buy say, 50,000g from us, when we trade
you 50,000g worth of items in the first phase of delivery, put SOME gold in the trade window in
exchange for these items. So perhaps pay us 900g or so for the items. Then, the item trade appears
just like a really low-ball sale rather than a flat out item giveaway. No redflags there. Then,
we buy the items from you for 50,000g. That 900g or whatever number you chose to trade will not be
reimbursed which is why we don't ask for you to do this. This is an OPTIONAL safety step you can
do if you are an extremely cautious person who wants to reduce the risk of getting banned in every
way possible.
Why We Bother
Right from the beginning, our goal has been to minimize ban risk both for the customer account and for
our accounts. Some gold farmers get banned every week and just keep buying accounts to replace the
banned ones. We prefer not to get banned at all! By following normal patterns of play and staying
within the customs and routines that a normal player would stay within, we avoid detection from both
other players and Blizzard themselves. The earning of gold and the selling of gold all must follow
an appearance of complete normalcy... Nothing can appear "off" and nothing can raise any redflags.
By us not making gold in high-risk ways or selling gold in high-risk ways, our customers can feel
safer when buying gold with us. They are much less likely to get banned when the gold was earned
in natural ways. We also save on operational costs by not having to replace banned accounts all the
time. This enables us to have larger profit margins and offer competitive pricing to customers. It's
just a win win for everyone.
How do you make the gold in low-risk ways?
We simply reasoned that we want to AVOID the ways all the kiddies make gold with their Honorbuddy
bots! They go out and farm every instance a million times vendoring everything they loot, rinsing and
repeating. They also go out and have their bot run around killing and skinning a million mobs a
day and then they undercut the leather market until leather is worth nothing. They also have their
bot go out and farm 1 million herbs and flood the auction house with them till the herbs are worth
nothing. All of these methods are just super extreme and scream, "hey, look at me I'm a idiot who
just downloaded this really cool bot and don't know what the hell I'm doing - ban me Blizzard!" We
don't like this method. We earn our gold by buying low and selling high on the auction house. We
also will farm conservatively mining and herbalism nodes in a way that does NOT flood the
auction house or grief other players. We will also do carrying and raiding and just a wide variety
of activities to earn gold in ways that don't hurt the economy whatsoever. We are experienced players
of this game and we earn gold in ways that are NOT harmful to the game or its players. We care about
this game. This game's survival is crucial to our survival as a company... Many Chinese gold sellers
and farmers seem to disregard that fact when they spam trade all day hocking their wares and they
farm 24/7 and grief other players. They even hack other player's accounts and steal their gold. It's
shameful and pathetic. With half a brain they could have avoided giving gold sellers a bad name...
Hopefully, Wowbucks can help to improve the image of gold sellers!
